04/04/12

My knee hurts. My left knee. I don't know what I did to it. Other than maybe cram my foot as far beneath my desk chair as possible at work because I subconsciously do this when I'm being attentive on the phone my desk. That and falling-ish off the sidewalk going into my apartment complex the other night probably didn't help. Or the weather, that is now getting rainy and weather-like. Anyway... it hurts. And i forgot to mention that at Bible study tonight during prayer requests.

We had quite the discussion at Bible study this evening. We didn't end up separating into the women's and men's studies. The pastor has something to say about a church sign at some Methodist church. The sign said "God prefers kind atheists over hateful Christians". Needless to say we all kind of went off on that statement. It was a really great discussion.

On another note. I like being included in things. But I don't usually go somewhere or join anything unless I'm invited in a clear manner. Maybe it's my logical thinking/social awkwardness, but that's how I am. Not clearly being invited to a family Easter function, and clearly being invited to a lunch at church on Easter, I am going to stay after church and hang out there... because they cared enough to ask. I don't typically initiate a conversation. Part of my social awkwardness. But I thrive on conversation. I still like listening to conversation, but living by myself, and having mostly one-way conversations in what I do for a living (however much I enjoy what I do it is what it is, and it's a job first and foremost), I do not have many actual conversations. I am a quality time person. If you (anyone: family/friend/stranger/robot) don't initiate the invite, I probably won't go to anything because to me that means you don't care if we hang out or not. It isn't that I wouldn't like to go, but I wasn't invited. Maybe it's something you think I should just get over. Maybe I think other people should understand that. Maybe I'm wrong. It isn't out of hate or dislike or anything ill-natured. It's about the principle of the matter. I have been invited to do something else, therefore I am going to do something else. This is why I don't get out much...

Two more days this week. Then the weekend. Everybody's workin' for the weekend.... I feel like I've heard that somewhere before. How true it is.

I think that's about all I have for now. I know I had other thoughts running around in my head this week. Maybe I'll remember them and post them this weekend. Who knows.... I need to go home because my eyes are getting dry and I'm tired... Still gotta go to the store tonight and get something for breakfast. I'm thinking Eggo's since I finally have a toasteroven... Yeah... Eggo's... :)

03/28/12

Whew! Made it to church on time tonight. I can make it if I get out at 5:30... I don't like to rush that much, but I made it!

I'm trying to figure out a way to connect my old N64 to my coax input only tv. Maybe I should see if someone has a newer old tv they don't need. Lol. My N64 has A/V output. Could play my NES though. But sad thing is unless you have a Zelda or Link game with batteries in the game pack, you can't save games on the NES. N64 was somewhat revolutionary in that aspect. lol. I found an old VCR at home. Gonna see if I can play with the wires tonight and get it hooked up. Maybe.... We shall see.

This week has been better than last week. A friend at church pointed out that I have reason to have been down last week: I've had a lot of pretty major life changes in the last few months. Well, the last two months for sure - Moving, my job, car issues, scheduling issues. Just happened to emotionally get to me on the week when nothing seemed like it was going wrong. Oh well. Last week is done. This week has been good so far. Work has been busy. So much so that we are only taking 30 min lunches and lunch is being provided this week. My thought: YAY! I don't have to cook/bring anything!! lol. So lazy, I know! :P

Oh, I got my hair cut yesterday! Chopped it all off again! So nice not having to deal with hair dangling in my eyes/under my headset at work! I got a few complements on it today at work too! :)

OK, I'm gonna get going and get back to my place and see if I can figure out this retro puzzle of old game systems and ancient tv's. I like analog tech, but this is slightly ridiculous. I think I need to find another coax cable...

03/25/12

I have run out of original titles for my posts.

This week has been mostly blah. Bible study and getting my teeth cleaned = the highlights of the week. And those were on my day off. I've just felt so oppressed/depressed this last week, for absolutely no good reason. Sure maybe the beginning of the week was just PMS, but the rest of the week had no reason to feel so crappy. My car didn't break down this week. My schedule was good at work. Work was busy, but not depressing. I even got scored on a call, and got a 100! I've been getting good scores, praise the Lord!

Praying this week is less blah...

Worship this morning at church was good. We sang Hillsong's "Desert Song". Such an appropriate song for today.

Oh, a shout out to my friend Jana. Thanks for reading/commenting on my posts! :) I bid you (and whoever else is lurking but not replying) a goodnight.

03/21/12

Just a quick note for tonight.

Got my teeth cleaned today. Embarrassed to admit but this was the first time I'd gone to the dentist for a routine cleaning since before college. The whole lack of insurance thing and all, ya know. Oh well. But remarkably my teeth are in great shape. I'm getting a night guard to wear while I sleep so I don't further chip my teeth since I tend to grind them at night. Can't wait for that!

I keep having strange dreams at night. They keep me awake/stressed.

Just not feeling great this week. Just discouraged and feeling disconnected somewhat.

Anyway, I gotta jet. Got work the next three days. Was off today since I'm working Sat. Glad tomorrow is a later shift. Goodnight interwebs...

03-04-12

My computer has been out of commission this week. Well, not the one I am typing on, but my main desktop. I'm going to be getting a copy of Windows 7 and a different HDD to use, and hopefully get my information off of it. Might wait a paycheck or so to get the Windows 7. Frustrating, it is. I just wish that things would stop breaking (car, computer).

My dreams this week seem to be broken too. I just keep having crazy/stressful dreams when I go to bed at night. Of course this week I was sick with the office head cold. That and being on DayQuil/NyQuil all week didn't help any. That always messes with my head. Praying for peaceful sleep this week.

I finally finished the drawings I was working on. I may post pictures next weekend.

That is it for me this weekend. See ya all next week.

Back to the grind

My Shabbat is over. Back to the grind tomorrow. I feel like I have some kind of sinus stuff starting, so gonna have to try to head that off, or at least make it not take me over. Praying for healing. I just don't want to feel cruddy all week/not be able to talk on the phones.

I have a few thoughts I would like to post here tonight, but I need to be getting back to my apartment. I also don't have all my thoughts gathered together very well yet on what I would like to post/respond to. May or may not end up posting my thoughts either...

Really enjoyed church today. It was challenging. What is my place/role? Still searching for that answer. For that matter, what are my gifts/talents?

OK, time to get back to my apartment, and get settled for the evening. Need to do dishes when I get back too. Ugh. Glad I hopefully have this coming Sat off. Now praying I can switch on Wednesday to be able to go to Bible study. For now, heading back into the black... (ref. Firefly, for those who didn't get that.... and my current lack of internet...)

Reflections on Bible Study

Sitting here thinking and wanting to write. Even though it's late and I should be in bed.

We have been studying the women of the Bible in the Wednesday night Bible studies. It's been really good to go over these passages again. I have not studied them for a while. The things we have been learning have been refreshing. Lately there has been a lot about prayer.

One of the things I have noticed with the stories of women such as Esther, and Ruth, and Hannah is the providence and planning of God behind the scenes. If Esther had played it safe, and had not entered the presence of the king, risking her own life, someone else would have been chosen to save the Jewish people. If Ruth had gone to another field, she would not have met her kinsman-redeemer. If Hannah had given up asking God for a son, she would not have been given Samuel. How could Esther know the outcome of her step into the king's court? How could Ruth have found the right field? How could Hannah, seemingly forgotten, keep persisting? These and so many other instances recounted in these stories show us a picture of an all-knowing God. One who is not going to forget His children. One who "knows the plans (he) has for us," even when we don't see those plans.

Just some thoughts I had this week.
